Karen Giles

M.Ac., L.Ac., Dipl Ac. (NCCAOM)

Karen Giles is a nationally board certified, New York State licensed acupuncturist. Born and raised on Long Island, New York, Karen earned a Master of Acupuncture degree from Tai Sophia Institute in Laurel, Maryland. As the first accredited acupuncture program in the United States, Tai Sophia’s Master of Acupuncture program combines rigorous classroom teaching with rich clinical experiences. As a result, Karen has a strong theoretical and philosophical foundation of how to treat each of her patients with skill, compassion and care.

Prior to her studies at Tai Sophia, Karen received a Bachelor’s degree in Consumer Economics. She then spent 15 years in the corporate world, relocating to Connecticut and Virginia for work. Karen's exposure to the rigors of corporate culture not only led her to acupuncture for her own health concerns but gives her the advantage of understanding the demands of balancing professional success and personal well being.

After being in a group practice in Maryland, Karen moved back to Long Island to be near family and continue this powerful work in private practice.

What People are Saying

Rick S

Stony Brook, NY

“A few months ago I started acupuncture treatments with Karen Giles with an open, but somewhat skeptical mind. My goals for the treatment were to increase my energy level, lose weight, and get into much better physical shape. I must say that the results are significantly exceeding what I had hoped for. I find the treatments themselves both energizing and relaxing at the same time. Even more important is the impact they are having in helping me achieve all of my goals with great ease.

The Five Elements holistic approach to acupuncture is exactly what I needed in my life right now to bring more awareness, energy and balance into my body. Karen is awesome, and I’m totally hooked! You’ve got to try this!”

Cristina V

Sinai, NY

“Having experienced severe abdominal, neck, and chest pain for several weeks, I submitted to the best that Western Medicine had to offer: diagnostic blood tests, physical exams, MRIs, CT scans, etc. Still no relief in sight. I mentioned to my primary care doctor my desire to try something else. I had heard some amazing stories about acupuncture from friends and relatives. He recommended Karen Giles.

My daughter called Karen and was pleasantly surprised at her calm demeanor and astute questions. Knowing that I was in dire need of relief, Karen did not hesitate to see me immediately. Little did I know that this was a defining moment in my health and life. Literally and figuratively, Karen proved to be just what the doctor ordered: in instrument for restorative health and so much more!

Karen knows what questions to ask, and takes her time to explore your feelings and anxieties. Thus, she carefully listens to you and your body in her quest to heal. She will even go to extraordinary lengths to help. Unable to get out of bed one day, Karen made a house call! Karen and acupuncture have helped me beyond words. She and her dynamic healing technique have nourished and aided my body’s natural healing processes. I confidently offer my most sincere and unconditional recommendation. Karen Giles is a truly exceptional person and superior health care professional.”

“As a multi-disciplinary professional and active patient of acupuncture, Karen Giles exemplifies the qualities I look for in a provider of care for my family and myself. Her interaction with her patients is warm, compassionate and caring. I have referred my own patients, as well as members of my family, to Karen for care and have received overwhelmingly positive feedback.

Karen understands that health comes with mind, body and spirit balance. Her alternative approach to holistic treatment enhances her patient’s ability to heal themselves and strengthen their immune system.

I think that it is important for those who have only experienced traditional forms of health care to understand that alternative medicine has proven to be beneficial as a compliment to sustain total body wellness.”
